Indexed preventive interventions aimed at people with pradiabetes

In indicated prevention refers to interventions aimed at preventing complications in people with pradiabetes. The famous Dutch intervention for people with prediabetes took place as part of the study “SLIM” (Study on Lifestyle intervention and Impaired glucose tolerance Maastricht) (Mensink et al, 2003). In this study, people with prediabetes lifestyle intervention in an intensive care setting offered with three monthly consultations with diet and exercise advice with free training sessions. The control group received only a brochure with advice on diet and physical activity. Currently running two SLIM similar studies in the Netherlands. From the VU Medical Center Amsterdam (VUMC) is a study of a cognitive behavior program aimed at lifestyle factors for people with moderate to high risk for diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Participants in the control group getting only written information (Laker Field et al, 2007). From the University of Tilburg is a project involving people with a high risk of diabetes through lifestyle intervention offered a GP. There are also examples of such foreign investigations, or the ‘Diabetes Prevention Program’
